Aristide Capelle was a painter and watercolourist from Liège, a student of Richard Heinz of whom he then became a friend and with whom he went for a walk in nature to paint. He painted mainly Ardennes landscapes, but also interiors and still lifes. He has regularly been described as the painter of the Lesse. He was also vice-president of the Cercle des Beaux-arts de Liège and he regularly exhibited with.
