The incomparable publicity Salvador Dali has given the Perpignan station since the 1950s on every media platform in the world prompted the SNCF to commission the brilliant Catalan painter to produce a series of 6 posters to promote rail tourism in France. In 1969, the SNCF's Paris Saint Lazare headquarters toured the French embassies of the European Community to put its communication plan into practice.
In fact, the poster dedicated to Roussillon was structured around the theme of the painting "Mystique de la gare de Perpignan", created in 1965 at the end of the historic trip. This original Maltese cross composition (reproducing the "Dali wagon") is easily recognizable (Roger Michel Erasmy, author of "Codex Dalianus" (Dali decoded) since 1984).
