Painter. Trained at the Académie de Liège with E. Carpentier. In 1902, Jose Wolff worked in the studio of F. Cormon in Paris, in 1911 in the studio of G. Boldao in Seville and exhibited for the first time with the Cercle des Beaux-Arts in Liège. In 1914, he returned to Paris where he met Jules Romain, Charles Vildrac and Georges Duhamel. His impressionist style is particularly noticeable in his Spanish and Ardennes landscapes. Predilection for landscapes, still lifes, genre paintings, portraits and nudes. Loves the effects of light and shadow and is part of the Walloon luminist movement. His palette features a sumptuous range of grey tones. His works are bathed in a delicate, sometimes melancholy atmosphere. Works in the Musée de l'Art Wallon in Liège. Mentioned in BAS I and in ‘Deux Siècles de Signatures d'Artistes de Belgique'. Bibliography: Dictionnaire des artistes plasticiens de Belgique du XIXe et XXe siècle. Paul Piron
