Born in Antwerp to parents from Liège, including a father who was a senior officer, Renée Prinz was a student at the Academies of Mons, Antwerp and Namur from 1905. There, she studied with Nicolas Vanden Eden and then Désiré Merny, from whom she may have caught the landscape painting bug, as she was first and foremost a landscape painter, although she also painted portraits and still lifes (the town owns some)
In 1947, she was a member of the Atelier des Artistes Mosans, along with Yvonne Gérard, Yvonne Perin, Albert Dandoy, Albert Houart, Georges Lambillotte and Louis-Marie Londot, with others joining later. Encouraged by the authorities, they had a studio on the first floor of the Bourse de Commerce (now the Centre de Congrès, Place d'Armes) and were allocated an annual operating subsidy.
Renée Prinz painted in oils and watercolours, and exhibited throughout Belgium, either individually or in groups. In 1969, a retrospective exhibition was held at the Maison de la Culture in Namur.
