Marie LAMBREXHE - Landscape - oil painting on canvas, 20th century

Painter. Training at the Boulevard Saucy School in Liège. Takes classes with Joseph Verhaeghe and Loussaint Kenson. Predilection for views of the Liège region, Ardennes landscapes (Fagnes, Hesbaye, Condroz), views of woods, villages and rivers (Meuse, Ourthe, Amblève). Robust, spontaneous, almost instinctive touch. Sometimes works with a knife. Her works are imbued with color, poetry, happiness and tenderness. Around 1965, she lived and worked regularly in the South of France, where she discovered the light, the sea and small fishing ports. In the press: “M.L. is passionate about beauty: the splendor and power of attraction of fields, trees, water and its reflections, small villages, forests, the pleasant bustle of big cities“. First exhibited at the Galerie “Cathédrale“ in Liège in 1959, then at the “Galerie du Marbre“ in Liège in 1962, 1963 and 1964, at the “Salon de la Glycine“ in Vresse-sur-Semois in 1975. Mentioned in the “Annuaire des Beaux-Arts de Wallonie (Robert Scheffer, 1960), and in “Artistes et Galeries 1998“ and “Deux Siècles de Signatures d'Artistes de Belgique“.
