Unframed work.
Verbaere Herman (1906-1993): A Belgian artist, born in Wetteren in 1905 and deceased in Zottegem in 1993, distinguished himself in various artistic fields, including painting, drawing, watercolor, lithography, as well as designing posters and stamps. He received training at the Academies of Wetteren and Ghent, under the guidance of several renowned masters. His inspiration ranged from Flemish villages to the banks of the Scheldt, through the Kempen region, the coast, and Zeeland. Praised for his ability to suggest landscapes with a musical elegance in his lines, he was known as the poet of the Scheldt, skillfully combining the strength of his brushstrokes with an innate sense of composition. His talent as a colorist was also remarkable, harmonizing colors subtly and poetically. Over time, his painting technique evolved towards broader brushstrokes and a lighter application of paint. Additionally, he made his mark as a designer of tourist posters and shared his knowledge as a teacher at the Academy of Wetteren. His work can also be found in the collections of the Ghent Museum.
