ABATTUCCI, Pierre (Molenbeek, 1871 - Ixelles, 1942) Painter, aquafortist, lithographer. Trained at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs de Molenbeek-Saint-Jean with F. Stroobant, at the Académie de Bruxelles with ]. Portaels, J. Stallaert and C. Van Der Stappen (1892-1897). Painted mainly landscapes and portraits. Originally, he could be related to symbolism. He appreciated misty twilights and melancholy atmospheres. His work appears meditative and idealised. Often works in luminist tones. In the press: His work is like the symphony of a poet singing the grandeur and splendour of nature. (1928) Long stay in Italy, where he painted mainly landscapes. Teacher at the School of Decorative Arts in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean. Works in the Musée Charlier (Brussels) and the Museums of Ixelles and Mons. Mentioned in the Biographie Nationale of the Académie Royale de Belgique, Volume XXX, BAS I and in Deux Siècles de Signatures d'Artistes de Belgique.
