Superb large painting by Hermann Delpech, signed and dated 1909, depicting a woman in her home, with numerous decorative details and half-closed shutters letting in light. The canvas measures 118 x 89 cm and with the frame 132 x 105 cm, cartouche (Société des amis des arts de Bordeaux, 1910 exhibition).
Hermann Delpech was a pupil of Dupuis in Bordeaux, then entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he trained with Gustave Boulanger, Jean Léon Jérôme and Léon Bonnat. He exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon and also in Bordeaux, painting landscapes, genre scenes, still lifes and flowers. His works can be found in museums in Bordeaux and Cognac.
