Sculpture in patinated terra cotta by Antonio Carli, sculptor and art founder with his brothers (active from around 1900 to 1970), depicting a woman holding her child at arm's length, smiling at him and back at him. She is seated on an armchair covered by the drapery of her dress. The sculpture is signed and numbered ( 2138, mold number). Inscribed "Made in Belgium". The sculpture is mounted on white-veined gray marble of the Sainte-Anne type. The sculpture is intact, the patina is worn in some places. The marble base has a small ding on one corner. The Carli brothers were very prolific, producing numerous sculptures in different materials (plaster, terracotta, marble, bronze). Their workshop was located in Schaerbeek (Brussels) and closed in 1970.
