Paul DAXHELET (1905-1993), African dancers and musicians, 1951, mixed media, 33.5 x 48 cm.
Paul Daxhelet initially exhibited as an engraver, but he also practiced oil painting and drawing. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Liège, where he taught for many years. Daxhelet led the life of a globetrotting painter, traveling extensively to Africa, Asia, South America, and Polynesia. His figurative and expressionist works reflect his passion for sports and travel.
