The painter Ellen de Tombay took painting lessons at the Academy of Liège with Auguste Mambour and Jacques Ochs and in Barazutti's studio in Rome. She is known for painting elegant figures, youth, sunshine and vacations. as well as romantic compositions with girls and young women. She was inspired by the landscapes of southern France and Spain. She had a sunny, impressionistic palette and loved the flower arrangement.
