Painter, watercolorist. Self-taught. Made his debut at the Salon de Bruxelles in 1875. In 1876 he traveled with F. Rops to Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Predilection for landscapes, outdoor compositions, seascapes, animal paintings, flocks of sheep in particular with shepherds. Realistic and clear style with fine and light touches. Count among our impressionist painters. Lived and worked in Anseremme for a few years then, after a short stay in Antwerp (1884 -1887), he settled in Brussels. From then on, he only practiced watercolor. F. Rops, F. Charlet, E. Smits and F. Khnopff were among his friends. Was a member of the Society of Belgian Watercolorists from 1887 and co-founder of L'Art Indépendant. Works in the Museums of Antwerp, Namur, Ostend, Brussels and at the Museum of Walloon Art in Liège.
