Henri Privat-Livemont was a painter, draftsman, decorator, and poster artist from Brussels. He studied drawing at the Academy of St Josse-Ten-Noode. Talented, he received a scholarship to Paris, where he worked on the decoration of public buildings. Returning to Brussels in 1891, where the Art Nouveau style was at its peak, he created posters, including the famous "Absinthe Robette" advertisement, interior designs, sgraffito on beautiful homes, and stained-glass window designs. His style was highly regarded, and his work was often compared to that of contemporaries such as Alphonse Mucha and Adolphe Crespin.
