Biography:
Curtis Jeré is the pseudonym shared by two American Designer artists, Curtis Freiler and Jerry Fels, who use metal to create decorative wall lights and sculptures. Fels and Freiler began to collaborate in 1963, they employed many traditional techniques, such as enameling, resin casting and bronze casting, to create abstract works of "brutalist" style in metal based on agglomerated and modular forms ( Building, Skyscraper, Raindrop Tree in 1969, ...).
To make their sculptures, Curtis Jeré founded the company Artisan House which is responsible for distributing their works around the world. Besides, they also create costume jewelry.
Like Paul Evans, they will contribute to the development of the American art movement of the 60s / 70s, Brutalism.
Artisan House will employ up to 300 people. It will be sold in 1972. Curtis Freiler died on July 22, 2013 in Los Angeles, where Fels still lives.
