Gérard Gribaumont was born in 1951 in Saint-Mard, a small village in the Gaume region, part of the municipality of Virton. A graphic designer by profession, he is a self-taught painter. He participated in several group exhibitions until 1991. Afterwards, he presented his work in solo exhibitions. He also collaborates with renowned galleries in Brussels, Liège, Bruges, and abroad. His work: A self-taught artist, he fully expresses himself through oil painting. Initially, broad black strokes structure his canvases on a surface previously coated with a dark tint. The drawing is initially very realistic, then becomes more dreamlike. It is at this point that his imagination takes over, that he begins to think like an "image-maker," creating forms, colors, and light… His forms are well-defined, his colors rather dark, and his figures caricatured. In his art, Gérard Gribaumont is influenced by Camille Barthélémy, and some of his canvases can also be compared to those of Milo Dardenne, where the artist emphasizes action and the work accomplished. Always seeking new possibilities, he interprets the space between reality and unreality. Painting is a pleasure for the eyes; it aims to evoke emotion in the viewer. His sole ambition is to share moments of happiness with his audience. Bibliography: Chaidron Foundation in Vresse-sur-Semois
