Preparatory study by Fernand Cormon for his painting "The Death of Ravana", dated 1875 and currently held at the Musée des Augustins in Toulouse.
The son of French playwright Eugène Cormon and actress Charlotte Paris [3] , Fernand Cormon was a student of painters Jean-François Portaels in Brussels, then of Alexandre Cabanel and Eugène Fromentin at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
He exhibited his first paintings at the Salon, including "The Death of the Prophet" in 1868. He became known for his historical scenes, such as "Murder in the Seraglio" or "The Death of Ravana", which won an award at the Salon of 1875. He also painted portraits, without ever abandoning the academic style, and traveled to Tunisia and Brittany.
The price includes cleaning the canvas.
