Painter, sculptor. Trained at the Liège Academy. Women, children, and horses are his most important sources of inspiration. In his early career, he was influenced by Mambour and Expressionism, and his figures were monumental. Gradually, his style became more fluid, the corners were rounded, the poses softened, and he arrived at a kind of poetic symbolism. His compositions with figures convey serenity, dreams, lyricism, and sometimes the fantastical, often bathed in an ethereal light. Around 1980, he turned to sculpture, where he explored the same themes as in his painting. His first sculpture was, in fact, a bronze "Festival Horse with Knight." The press commented on it: "Little by little—from plaster and wax to clay and bronze— MM has managed to reduce to the essence a subject dear to his heart." Knight and horse are united not only by their festive nature, but also by their graceful movement, the solidity and clarity of their lines, approaching an oriental simplicity. (J. Parisse, 1980) In 1969, he became a professor of painting at the Liège Academy. His works are held in museums in Liège, Brussels, and Verviers. He is mentioned in BAS II and in "Two Centuries of Signatures of Belgian Artists."
A retrospective exhibition took place in 2021 at the Boverie Museum in Liège.
