Painting by Charles LEVIER (1920-2003), quite typical of the artist's works. It depicts a young woman on a quay (Paris?) wearing a 1930s coat and hat, holding a large bouquet of flowers. In the background, a cathedral.
The tones are soft, on one side a symphony of pinks, on the other gray-blue.
The signature appears at the bottom right, on the back, it is countersigned and titled.
Oil on canvas.
Dimensions: 100 x 73 cm.
Charles LEVIER (1920 - 2003) was a French-American. His first solo exhibition took place at the Galerie Constantine in Lyon in 1949, followed by his American debut in Los Angeles in 1950. His work belongs to the figurative movement "Les Trente Glorieuses". Inspired by Hollywood cinema, Charles Levier uses harmony and purity in his creations, which represent a delicate and luminous world, with subtle hues and carefully studied colors.
