Gabriel DAUCHOT “Young man in Montmartre “ painting on canvas

Nicknamed “the painter of the human comedy“, he is associated with the figurative Jeune Peinture movement within the école de Paris.
Gabriel Dauchot was born on May 10, 1927 in Livry-Gargan[4]. Encouraged by his father, an architect, and painting from the age of fourteen, Gabriel Dauchot, whose admiration went to Maurice Utrillo and Chaïm Soutine, received guidance from émile Othon Friesz and Yves Brayer at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in 1940, before entering the école nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in 1942. He had been exhibiting at the Paris Salons since his youth, and was not yet twenty when the Katia Granoff[6] gallery, then the Cardo gallery, organized his first solo shows.
