Louis Toffoli was a French painter and lithographer of Italian origin. Arriving in Paris in 1930 after fleeing fascism, he worked in a dressmaking workshop before returning to painting in 1935. His style, combining layering, effects of transparency and light, and the absence of facial features in his characters, is unique.
