Important dining room table / console, made by the French artist Christian Techoueyres.
Signed work, of museum quality, this is a unique piece.
It consists of a brass and gilt bronze structure depicting a flamboyant bird (an eagle), incorporating at its base and mid-height two large amethyst geodes set in brass. The raptor, shown with outstretched wings, rests on branches forming the base.
After extensive research, no other work of this scale by the artist has been identified. His known creations are also unique pieces, but generally coffee table-sized.
The structure supports a thick glass top, weighing approximately 150 kg and measuring 225×110 cm. It has two small chips, visible in the photographs.
The whole thing weighs about 220kg and measures 225x110x74cm, normal dining table height.
The bronze and brass base alone weighs approximately 70 kg and measures 138x73x72cm.
The whole thing is perfectly stable.

Christian Techoueyres is a French artist and designer active primarily in the second half of the 20th century, renowned for his sculptural creations that blend gilded metal, naturalistic forms often depicting animals (lizards, crabs, birds, fish, etc.), and ornamental stones (agate, geodes, etc.). His work embodies a spectacular and decorative aesthetic, often associated with the "Glam Seventies" luxury of the 1970s. He is particularly famous for his "Palmier" floor lamp, produced by the prestigious Maison Jansen in Paris, which has become an icon of the Hollywood Regency style. His works, generally produced as unique pieces or in very small series, exist at the intersection of sculpture and furniture. They are now sought after by collectors and found in high-end interiors and collections.
