Suite of 4 Italian Faldistorio SAVONAROLA style armchairs, hand forged iron, velor and brass from the 1940s.

Stretched velor forming and sitting. The term faldistorio derives from the medieval Latin faldistorium, which in turn depends on the German Faltstuhl, or "folded chair". The faldistorus closely resembles the CURULE chair, a country chair used by Roman generals during their movement near the theater of war, and this seems to derive from adaptations appropriate for ecclesiastical use.
In the style or of Jean-Charles Moreux (1892_1956), French architect, perfect representative of a rigorous classicism, Gothic and poetic spirit.
Graduated from the Paris School of Fine Arts in 1922. Friend of Jean Lurçat, he worked for fashion designer Jacques Doucet, Baron Robert de Rotschild and Viscount Charles de Noailles.
