Jean Gauthier EZAN
Wonderful french art deco lamp in nickel plated solid brass and moulded-pressed glass. This model Ezan shade is always unsigned. They were used by numerous lamp manufacturers. For instance maison Charles Ranc. Ranc used the shade on a simple cheap base done in copper plated pressed metal. I was'nt able to find out who made my lamp but it must have been one of the larger companies of the era since I see this model rather often. The height of the lamp is 21,2cm (8-3/8). The diameter of the shade is 13,5 cm (5-5/16). The lamp is in very good condition. It is rewired with twisted rayon covered cord, new plug and switch. It has a new european E14 socket so you can use our modern light buolbs for it. I will add a good quality LED bulb to the parcel. For the USA or Japan I will rewire the lamp with an American socket and 2-prong plug.
The lamp will be shipped by priority mail. Safely packed and fully insured. Free shipping offered for Belgium France Holland or Germany. A pick up in Rotterdam is possible as well.
Jean Gauthier had his first workshop at 12-14 rue Jean Robert in Paris and later expended with factories in the town of Ezanville. In the early days just after the first worldwar Gauthier made cameo shades that were sometimes signed Gauthier. The plants in Ezanville were opened for the production of art deco glassware in moulded-pressed glass. Many art deco models are unsigned. Some are signed EJG for Etablissements Jean Gauthier. Others are signed J.Robert pseudonym for J.Gauthier based on the streetname of the first workshop. In the 30s Gauthier started a line of shades done in opalescent semi-crystal, mainly cups. Some models are unsigned. Others are signed EZAN France, signature for Gauthier based on the city of the second plant.
