Coffee or lounge table in the style or by WILLY RIZZO (Cidue edition) circa 1970.
Mirror-like glass top, brushed aluminium belt, gilded brass angles, central base in black laminated wood.
Very good original condition, quality workmanship. There are a few scratches on the glass and on the aluminium belt (see details in photos), which is normal light wear due to the passage of time.
Biography:
Italian designer and photographer Willy Rizzo (1928-2013) first came to prominence in the 1960s as a photographer, developing a passion for interior design in the 1970s and launching a second successful career as a designer of luxury furniture. Born in Naples in 1928, in the 1940s he began his career as a journalist. His reputation continued to grow, and it wasn't long before he was hired by France Dimanche to take portraits of the rich and famous at events such as the Cannes Film Festival. Willy Rizzo's charm opened doors to royalty and dignitaries, and he photographed dozens of stars, including Brigitte Bardot, Maria Callas, Salvador Dalí, Marlene Dietrich, Jane Fonda, Gene Kelly and Gregory Peck. He also befriended such celebrities as Coco Chanel, Christian Dior and Jack Nicholson. In 1962, he captured some of Marilyn Monroe's last moments. In 1968, Willy Rizzo began his career as a furniture designer in Rome, starting with his own flat. At first simply for personal use, Willy Rizzo created a series of unique pieces inspired by modernist icons such as Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier. He acquired an international reputation as a designer for the rich and famous. His team now numbers 150, and he opens boutiques in France and across Europe, as well as in New York, Miami and Los Angeles.
