Round coffee table in travertine (mineral stone) from the 1970s.
A very low model (25cm), the edge of the shelf (116cm) is softened to accentuate its slimness (just 2cm).
Sober, well-balanced Italian design.

Angelo Mangiarotti is an Italian architect and industrial designer.
"Never forget the real needs of consumers..." he says. Mangiarotti has concentrated on creating architecture and industrial design. He was one of the protagonists of the birth of Italian design in the 1950s.
Angelo Mangiarotti was born on 26 February 1921 in Milan.
In 1948, Angelo Mangiarotti graduated from the School of Architecture and the Milan Polytechnic. He moved to the United States in 1953 and worked in Chicago as a professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he met Frank Lloyd Wright, Walter Gropius, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Konrad Wachsmann, all of whom had a major influence on the development of his work.
He was very active in urban planning, architecture and industrial design. Mangiarotti received numerous awards in Italy and worked with major publishing houses such as Cassina and Poltronova Snaidero.
He founded Mangiarotti & Associates in Tokyo in 1989.
He died on 2 July 20121.
