Noverdy : French art deco pendant ... 1930 chandelier France

A beautiful French 1925-1930 art deco pendant in nickel plated bronze or solid brass holding a very rare shade in acid etched glass by Noverdy. The bowl is signed Noverdi. The lamp is in very good condition. I have replated and patinated the fixture and it comes newly wired. There is one small chip on the rim. It hardly shows. See last two pictures. The chandelier has a drop of about 41,5 cm (16-3/8) and a diameter of 35 cm (13-3/4). I rewired it with a new US standard socket. For Europe I will wire it with a standard E27 socket.

NOVERDY - Verrerie des Vosges : René & Jean Drouhot
In 1893 the glass factory Société anonyme des Verreries de Dijon was founded producing drinking glasses and other household glassware. In the early 20s the businessmen René and Jean Drouhot took over. And a production of lighting shades started. The name Noverdy or Noverdi was lanced being short for Nouvelle Verrerie de Dijon. Noverdy was never registered as a company name. But the name Jean Noverdy was used as pseudonym of Jean and René Drouhot. In 1924 the brothers Jean and René also took over a glass factory in the village of Hoffmuhl Verrerie des Vosges. Old product catalogs of Verreries de Dijon do not exist. But Verrerie des Vosges issued at least one catalog. In it moulded-pressed lighting shades are represented. Many models in this catalog are known both unsigned and signed Noverdy. A few models exist with a Verrerie des Vosges signature. Sometimes but it's rare we can find the signature Noverdi on acid engraved vases and such.
