important bronze of the lawyer Jules Destrée is a Belgian politician, doctor of law born in Marcinelle on August 21, 1863 and died in Brussels on January 2, 1936. Bourgeois humanist, the trials following the strikes of 1886 will determine his commitment to the Belgian Workers' Party, the ancestor of the Socialist Party. Pierre de Soete was orphaned at the age of fourteen. He enrolled at the Molenbeek Drawing Academy while learning about self-taught modeling. He apprenticed at the Compagnie des Bronzes and met sculptors, notably Julien Dillens, Constantin Meunier and even Jef Lambeaux.
Working full time as a sculptor from 1924, he
receives numerous orders, among others for monuments to
dead. He excels in subjects such as motherhood, sport and
