This is an original piece of interior bar furniture produced by Belgian ceramist Julien Covemaeker (1927-2008) circa 1965. This now rare model was made in his workshop in Ostend, Belgium. The piece is made up of three decorative panels of glazed ceramic tiles mounted on a wrought-iron structure with openwork metal plates in a cloverleaf pattern, all satin-finish black lacquered. The worktop is also made of glazed ceramic tiles that shimmer and capture the light because they contain metallic oxides. The furniture is produced under the signature J. (Juliette) Belarti, which is not the designer's name but the name of his company. Belarti is a contraction of BEL(gique)ARTIstique). This bar is in excellent original condition. All the tiles are intact and have retained their beautiful, intense period colours. This is a very attractive piece for your interior. It's highly decorative, practical and takes up very little space.
