Bleu Noiir 'The guardian' tufting, woollen rug / tapestry, 2023

Bleu Noiir is a self-taught, multi-disciplinary artist who puts experience at the heart of her work. Impatient and free of convention, she likes to let her hands do the work, to try things out and learn in the moment. Every act she undertakes responds to the need to create in the moment. It was from this state that her first textile project was born, a monumental embroidery on a bed base. Tufting was a natural next step in her artistic research. With no academic training, her creations reflect sincerity and spontaneity. Paradoxically, she has masterfully developed a wildly naïve universe, inspired by her travels in Asia. Bleu Noir is agoraphobic, and her anxieties translate into a need to exert extreme control over her environment and herself. Art enables him to transcend his disorder. After her prolific expression of a darker side of her being through the graphic power of her collages, her tufted creations mark the advent of the second phase of this journey. Freed from a certain form of violence, her carpets allow her to express the joyful, crazy and slightly dreamy child.
