The goddess Bastet, also known as Bast, is the daughter of the god Ra, wife of Ptah and mother of Mihos.
Bastet is an ancient Egyptian goddess who is still highly venerated today, as she is the protector of women, children, cats and those who care for them. She is also the goddess of sunrise, music, dance, pleasure, family, fertility and birth.
Through Bastet, the ancient Egyptians expressed their admiration for the agility, vigilance and mystery of the cat - an animal that was sacred, protected and sometimes even mourned as a member of the family.
