Samurai armour belonging to the second Lord of the Domain Itzumi Ishiwada

Armour having belonged to the third generation of the okabe family of the domain of kishiwada, the eldest son of nabukatsu osabe. Full suite oegawa do gusoku type armour. Early edo 1660,1680. Do: oegawa type, horizontal lamellar construction in black lacquered iron, beautiful, robust and elegant construction. Sode protection of shoulders; lacquered in kiritsue gold and braided of multiple colours the mon of the clan oabe are on the last blade. sujibachi type kabuto 12 blades in black lacquered iron mounted with a shikoro in black lacquered kiritsuke braided in old gold silk kebiki. oate :in black lacquered iron with a yodarekake in black lacquered kiritsuke braided in old gold silk kebiki sangu (three-piece kote sleeves aidate (underskirt, suneate (shin protector, in natural iron for the ote and aidate and in black lacquered iron for the suneate, all mounted on ivory hemp fabric. Classically designed armour with no ostentatious features, which at first glance may appear sober for a lordly suit of armour. It testifies to the humility of this lord, who had no need to show off in order to exist. This armour is accompanied by its transport crate and, a rare detail, a protective cage usually reserved for important armour. The armour was on display at ishiwada castle (see photos).
