Charles BEZIE (1934) acrylic painting on canvas Composition rouge et noire nr 624 signed and dated. Signed and dated 1992 on reverse. Acrylic on canvas. 40x40cm. Width 3,5cm. Painter Charles Bezie was born in Varades (Loire-Atlantique) in 1934. He began his artistic training by attending the St Nazaire art school from 1951 to 1955. He then moved to Paris and joined the Académie Jullian, where he stayed for two years (1957/1958). For the next two years (1958 and 1957), Charles Bezie continued his training at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Reims. He continues the tradition of constructivist art that emerged at the beginning of the 20th century. He has exhibited throughout Europe and in Japan. Initially, his work was guided by a desire to oppose our great forebears Malevitch and Mondrian, by attempting to erase geometry with a network of fine lines. This is what he calls his graphic period. In the years that followed, his work evolved and the lines became thicker and thicker, until they became stripes, culminating in the sign he nicknamed Quadrille. From 1974 onwards, Charles Bézie limited the colors of his art to black, white and red, and used straight lines in his work: horizontal, vertical and both diagonals. Works in museums and public collections Musée des Beaux Arts, Nantes Center de la Gravure et de l'Image imprimée, La Louvière, Belgium Museum of Geometric and MADI Art, Dallas, TX, USA Sammlung Schroth, Soest, NL ...
