églomisé painting (also known as painting behind glass), mixed media acrylic "under" and "on" plexiglass by the Belgian artist Patrice Placeman in 1975.
Remarkable and avant-garde technique of realization with the airbrush, painted on the back of the plexiglass but also some clouds and spheres applied to the front on the surface (see photos) giving an effect of shadows and 3D relief.
Surrealist, Constructivist, Geometric and Futurist painting in the style of Victor Vasarely representing in an almost anecdotal way the city of Paris. The Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral and the Invalides are represented there, almost hidden.
Signed and dated lower right.
International delivery possible on request.
To note:
- Some light reflections are present on the photographic shots, difficult to photograph.
- Some surface light scratches on the Plexi, insignificant ...
Training:
- 1963: Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Liège, Belgium
- 1965: Decorative Arts Center - Brussels, Belgium
Biography:
Patrice Placeman was born in Brussels in 1949. From 1975 to 1993, he lived between Brussels, Miami and Paris. He is considered a remarkable and recognized contemporary Optic Art (Op'Art) artist, achieving perfection in his achievements.
He builds a world for himself, a futuristic and spatial surrealist universe, even going so far as to replace the Humanoid by the Placemanoïde (some of his works bear this name). Refusing traditional techniques, he airbrushed imaginary scenes to capture our attention, our imagination. He uses a so-called 'églomisé' technique, a negative painting technique requiring great mastery. The artist uses materials and innovative tools for the time, airbrush, plexiglass.
Few of his works are available on the Art market, he will soon be of interest to collectors!
Numerous exhibitions to his credit around the world (list available on request).
