Philippe Waxweiler, a painter, sculptor and scenographer from Liège, was born on 15 December 1943. He spent his youth in Africa. He studied graphic arts at Saint-Luc, Liège. He worked as an advertising designer for Brussels advertising agencies. Model designer and public relations officer for 10 years at Cristalleries du Val-Saint-Lambert. Creation of sets for the Théà¢tre Arlequin Creation of carpets for Maison Bausol Member of the Association Royale des Artistes Professionnels de Belgique, he has devoted himself entirely to painting since 1977. Numerous exhibitions since 1972 in Belgium, France, Germany and Switzerland. Numerous works in private and public collections [ref. needed] In December 2002, the City of Liège devoted a retrospective to him at the Salle St. Georges to mark his 30 years of exhibitions.
