Watercolor etching "Le Port de Rochefort Vu du Magasin des Colonies Gravé d'après le Tableau Original Appartenant au Roy Faisant Partie des Collections Des Ports de France, ordonnée par le Marquis de Marigny Conseiller du Roy en ses Conseils, Commandeur de ses Ordres, Directeur et Ordonnateur Général de ses Bâtimens, Jardins, Arts, Académies et Manufactures Royales Peint par Joseph Vernet de l'Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture, C.N. Cochin filius et J. Ph. Le Bas, Sculpserunt 1767 A.P.D.R.".
N°13 , King Louis XV commissioned marine painter Joseph Vernet to paint 15 French ports. Engravings and etchings were carved from these oil paintings by 18th-century engravers Charles Nicolas Cochin fils and Jean Philippe Le Bas. This etching has been enhanced in watercolor, and the passe partout frame is also in watercolor. Framed in mahogany and under glass.
In view of its size and fragility, it will not be sent, so you must come and get it!
Frame dimensions 100 X 79 cm, etching 76 X 54 cm.
Very good condition of the etching. The mahogany frame is scratched on the left (see photo).
