Reinhoud d'Haese ‘ Smatch ’ copper sculpture, 1973
On request
Reinhoud d'Haese, often referred to simply as Reinhoud (1928-2007), was a Belgian artist best known for his sculptures in metal, particularly copper, and his depictions of anthropomorphic figures, often fantastical, grotesque and humorous.
‘Smatch', created in 1973, is part of this unique artistic tradition.
Reinhoud worked mainly in copper and bronze, creating sculptures that are both expressive and strange.
‘Smatch' presents a dancing, distorted, elongated figure with exaggerated limbs and a dynamic posture.
The use of copper allows Reinhoud to work with surfaces and play with textures, often leaving visible marks that give his works a raw, organic appearance.
