Albert DANDOY (1885-1977): "Namur - Le marché au foin" (Namur - The hay market)
380,00 €
Albert André Dandoy was born on April 3, 1885 in Namur. He is the fifth and last child of Auguste Dandoy (1839-1893), a landscape artist and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Namur. With such a paternal figure, it is therefore logical that he expressed an interest in pictorial art early on and perpetuated the lineage once initiated by his grandfather, Jean-Baptiste Dandoy (1799-1873), painter and restorer of ancient paintings1. On school benches, on the other hand, he can't stand the rigour and authority of classical education very well. This earned him to be successively excluded from the Jesuit College and the Athenaeum of Namur. Following this series of dismissals, his mother, Elise Gerondal, decided to enrol him in the Academy of Painting where her late husband, who died when Albert was only eight years old, once taught. It was in this establishment that, in contact with the masters Vanden Eede and Merny, he perfected his dispositions for painting.
