***reserved***Albert André Dandoy was born on April 3, 1885 in Namur. He is the fifth and last child of Auguste Dandoy (1839-1893), a landscape artist and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Namur. With such a paternal figure, it is therefore logical that he showed an interest in pictorial art early enough and perpetuated the lineage once initiated by his grandfather, Jean-Baptiste Dandoy (1799-1873), painter and restorer of ancient paintings. On school benches, on the other hand, he can't stand the rigour and authority of classical education very badly. This led to him being successively excluded from the Jesuit college and the Athenaeus of Namur. Following this series of dismissals, her mother, Elise Gerondal, decided to enrol her in the Academy of Painting where her late husband, who died when Albert was only eight years old, taught. It is in this establishment where, in contact with the masters Vanden Eede and Merny, he perfects his provisions for painting
